About garbage in Montenegro 2

It is very possible to sort garbage by fractions and bring to one of recycling centers around Podgorica and other cities in Montenegro. If you want to. They call those places Reciklažna Dvorišta. You can search on map or use this link where some of those places were compiled by someone into a list https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=182yYXyE8jGLzqg5psrZc2TxoZt2BIVY&usp=sharing

It doesn’t mean garbage is not an issue there. In fact you can see a fair amount of bottles, cigarette butts and bags on the streets. And if not some cleaning services, I’m pretty sure it would grow exponentially. I’ve seen how the waste appears day after day on a beautiful spot where people come to sit and eat something. All this stuff ends up on the ground around the place. It absolutely doesn’t matter if a garbage bin is in front of them 1 meter away. It is just a mentality I guess.

Anyway, we’ve used one of those recycling centers. It was not easy to get to without a car, since we had accumulated many bags with plastic, glass, paper, bag with bags and stuff. And it was too hot outside to carry all those bags and boxes 30 minutes by foot. So we postponed every time. But once we got a car, the journey went like clockwork. We just put all of the waste to the back of the car, 5 minutes and we were at the place.

We drove right into the area. A person came out of the booth and told us where to put the stuff and how. Although it looks obvious, as there are separate piles of things. But he also told us that we do not need to worry about some things. We had a paper box with some other things inside. He suggested to leave it as is, because someone will come in the evening and sort it out. The person was kind to us and seemed to be genuinely interested in visitors. We found out that they accept electronics and batteries as well.

What else to say? It is surprising to observe how much recyclable garbage I can accumulate over time.
