Boat under water
We’ve just recently found another semi wild place to swim in the river around Podgorica, Montenegro. Last time we went to damselfly baths near Vranske Njive. This time we tried to find a wilder spot with more space to chill. We went across this small bridge through the Zeta river at Vranske Njive. And then we drove by the road along the river.
There were some possible turns to the river, but they looked like a private property. In between these assimilated lands we could not see the river through wild thickets. We have tried a couple of spots, but the descent was too steep. So we were driving further down the road.
Until we stumbled upon a restaurant. There were no homes around. It was pretty far from the city. There were many cars standing by and it seems like locals enjoyed this one. I’ve seen a similar thing in Macedonia. There you could stumble upon a big restaurant in the wilderness. The one I’ve seen was on a small mountain river. They were even breeding fish just behind the restaurant to put it on the dining table.
But let’s get back to our small mission. Here our narrow road was going to turn away from the river. So we stopped. In this restaurant were fancy wooden terraces going down to the river. So we thought it might be our chance to sneak down to possibly see our swimming spot somewhere in sight. We could not see any place to get to. But there was a huge flat parking land just behind the restaurant. In its further corner was possibly a small track going further up the river.
We went across this land to the small path in the corner. Then we walked along the track. There was a beautiful field of flowers. Then there was a field of lovely smelling mint. We went across the mint field to the river. And there was our small beautiful swimming spot. I think locals used to park boats there. But the only boat was laying aside, submerged deep into the water. Absolutely no one around, just the nature. We pushed back a flock of tiny frogs and went into the water. It was wide, calm and deep.
